Take me out to the ballgame…and the yoga field.
This Memorial Day Sunday the VIDA team hosted one of the biggest yoga classes in DC for the third year in a row, “Yoga in the Outfield” at the Washington Nationals stadium.
Not even a little rain could keep the crowd of 500 people from joining us for an awesome yoga practice led by our own Chris Parkison. Fans who purchased a special ticket had the rare opportunity to practice on the stadium field, receive a special Washington Nationals yoga mat, connect with some of the city’s top instructors, and experience the shared power of the DC yoga community.
Chris Parkison led the crowd through his signature flow – building steadiness and grounding with the breath to support the challenge and play of balancing poses like half splits and crow. The VIDA team was on deck to demo poses for the crowd, practice together and offer assistance to students throughout the practice. The 45-minute flow ended with a guided meditation led by Chris in which students were asked to visualize the world series trophy. So if the Nats make it to playoffs this season we think the power in collective meditation might have had something to do with it!
Yoga in the outfield will be held again this year on Sunday, September 10. We hope to see you there!
